.  For instance, even though a child is only two days old, if he or she is born just one day before the Traditional Chinese New Year, the child will be two days old two days later. When the starting date is at the end of a month, this age calculator's months and day result may be difficult to understand in some cases. For example, we count Feb. 20 to Mar. 20 to be one month.  However, there are two methods for determining the age between February 28, 2022 and March. 31, 2022.

In different cultures, a person's age can be counted differently. The most common age system serves as the basis for this calculator. In this system, a person's birthday determines their age. For instance, a person who has lived for 3 years and 11 months is 3 years old, and one month after their next birthday, they will be 4 years old. Most western countries use this age system.

In some cultures, age is expressed by counting years with or without including the current year.  For instance, a person who is twenty years old and another person who is twenty-one years old are the same age. In one of the traditional Chinese age systems, people are born at age 1 and their age increases up at the Traditional Chinese New Year rather than their birthday. 

The time span from February 28 to March 28 equals one month and three days. If we consider both Feb. 28 and Mar. 31 as the end of the month, then the result is one month.  Both calculation results are reasonable.  Similar situations exist for dates like Apr. 30 to May 31, May 30 to June 30, etc.  The disparity in the number of days between the various months causes the confusion. The first approach is what we use for our calculations.
